AOA Privacy Policy

The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) understands how important your privacy and safety are to you. Therefore, this privacy policy explains what information the AOA intends to accumulate, and how the AOA intends to collect, protect, and use this information.

By using the omedconference.org site, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, so please read through it carefully. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy, please exit this site immediately. For suggestions, complements, or complaints regarding omedconference.org or this Privacy Policy, please email the AOA at info@osteopathic.org or use the online feedback form.

Personal Information Collection and Use

“Personally Identifiable Information” (PII) refers to any information that identifies or can be used to identify or contact the person such information pertains to. This includes, but is not limited to, name, address, telephone number, and similar data.

The AOA does not collect PII about you except when you provide the information on a voluntary basis. The AOA collects the PII that you provide. The AOA may use the PII provided by you to conduct research, to improve this site, and to provide services to you. The AOA will disclose your PII to third parties when necessary for the provision of services to you, for the protection of others, and when required by law. The AOA will not otherwise sell, share, or rent your PII to unaffiliated third parties without your express permission.

Aggregate information is information in summary form that does not contain PII. The AOA uses and allows third parties to use aggregate information to aid in the development or implementation of programs, products and services. For example, the AOA may inform a potential advertiser that 15% of its journal users prefer articles on OMT. Since aggregate information does not contain PII, the AOA will share this information without your express permission.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive which allows organizations to collect non-PII about the user’s use of a site. Once the user closes the browser, most cookies simply terminate. Omedconference.org does not currently use cookies.

Log Files

Each time a computer accesses the Internet, it uses a temporary IP address. The AOA uses IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track a user’s movements through the site, and gather broad information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to PII.

Notification of Changes

Privacy as it applies to the Internet is a dynamic, rapidly developing area. In the future, the AOA may make significant changes to this Privacy Policy. Therefore, you should check this Privacy Policy regularly. If you choose to reject an amendment and have your PII removed from AOA records, please notify the AOA at info@osteopathic.org or use the online feedback form.
